Holiday Week of Chic: Tulle Skirt Giveaway!

Hi Friends!

I am so excited for this week! Lacey, from My Boring Closet and I are kicking off our Holiday Week of Chic giveaway series today and have some wonderful giveaways in store for you all.  During this season of giving we wanted to be sure to give back to all of you who are so supportive of us.  So we have collaborated with some of our favorite brands to give away some fun things for the holidays and just in time to check a few things off your list.  Look out for something for the beauty lover, hostess with the mostess, and of course, a few things for the fashion lover!

First up is a tulle skirt from Patterns and Pops! Lacey and I had so much fun twirling around in these.  Full disclosure, Stanley may have had even more fun with these skirts than we did.  The next day after we shot this look he escaped his kennel and and had a field day when he got a hold of one of the skirts... He's going through quite the faze guys (any advice please send it my way!).

Anyway, I think every girl should wear a tulle skirt at least once! They  put an instant smile on your face and I am convinced they go with anything and everything - plaid shirts, leather jackets, crop tops, sequins, sweaters.... anything.  Patterns and Pops is offering our readers 50% off of skirts with code: TULLE (just in case you are not the lucky winner this week!).

Dressed in Holiday Style with MAX

Hi Guys!

I hope you had a wonderful week! I am so excited for some festive fun this weekend.  I love that there are so many opportunities to wear extra special dresses durning the holidays and that it is perfectly appropriate to wear sparkle, bows, and lace on just about everything.

Last week I stopped in MAX Boutique in Cherry Creek (additional locations in Boulder and Aspen), which is at the very top of my list for for high end boutiques in Colorado!  Max, the owner is one of the friendliest people around and has amazing style! I can't wait to show you some other fun things I snagged while I was there.  They carry a ton of beautiful Self Portrait dresses which are perfect for the holidays!!  My dress is sold out online, but available at MAX and found some similar options (here, here, and here).

I wore this dress to Jonny's office holiday party earlier this week.  It was really snowing so I ended up wearing tights and these black pumps.  As for my new over the knee boots, as you know I was a little scared to try this trend, and now I can't get enough!  I always felt they would make me look even shorter than I already am, but it turns out they elongate and are incredibly comfortable.  My coat is one of my favorite hand-me-downs from my mom, but I found a similar coat (on major SALE here $159) and also here $449.  I've linked several similar dresses and the rest of my outfit details below!

What fun holiday plans do you have this weekend?!

This post is in collaboration with MAX . As always, all opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that make this blog possible!

Winter Wonderland

Happy Wednesday, Friends!

Geez, this month is flying by... I must admit, my Christmas cheer has been a little low this year.  Typically by this time I am blaring Christmas music and the house has been decorated for almost a month, but this year has been different.  I think it may have a little to do with the loss of Charlie Brown  (Jonny says Charlie had a lot of Christmas "whoop") and the warm weather late into the fall.  As much as I love this time of year it hasn't felt the same until last night.

Last night we went to our first Christmas party of the season.  The snow started falling just before we arrived and it was just magical! We toured all of the beautiful Christmas lights in the city after the party and I finally feel like I can put up some decorations today :).  Wish me luck!

I am so happy that rules like, "No white after Labor Day," are a thing of the past.  I think a completely white or off white look is perfect for the holidays.  I am planning on wearing this whole J.McLaughlin (minus my boots which are currently 25% off and purse) when we head to the mountains over the holidays.  My fur poncho is so warm and cozy, and I have been wearing the turtleneck under everything!!  I love that that their clothes are tailored to a woman's body, which means the jeans I am wearing have a great mid rise.  I would also recommend sizing down if you are between sizes.

Stay warm today, friends!

Holiday Card Ready

Hi Guys!

DSC01456_2016-3_2016.jpg

I hope you are having a lovely week.  I put real clothes on for the first time yesterday - and today am back in my p.j.'s .... the doctor said this flu is lasting 10 days - 3 weeks and wow, am I red nosed vision in sweats.  My poor husband.

Right before Thanksgiving we took pictures for our holiday card(s).  My whole family was in town so before Jonny, Stanley and I took our pictures we were able to take a few with my sisters, and their significant others and my mom as well which we haven't done in a long time.  Growing up we would take holiday photos every year, but actually getting the holiday card itself out was always a big task.

The past three years Jonny and I have used Minted and I am more amazed by the way they ease the process every year! I signed in to create our card and was trying to think of our list from last year and was happily surprised that they had it (and the addresses) saved.  They offer free pre addressing, with the cutest design options.  And you can even order personalized stamps or stamps that match your card (so easy!). We selected this design but were torn because we love this one too.

My dress is from Patterns and Pops $68.  I just love the sweet bows on the back - it is so comfy and would also be great with tights and boots as it gets colder.  Jonny's shirt is on major sale $25!  Stanley's bow tie is from a local doggy boutique (Two Pals and Pup), but in case you aren't in the area, I found a similar one here.  Shop the rest of my look and a few of my favorite red dresses (all under $100!) below.

Have a great day!

Cyber Monday Sale Roundup!

Happy Monday,

Hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing holiday weekend.... I have to admit that I have been enjoying "cyber week" not just CYBER MONDAY.  This cold has been a real doozy so I have not stepped one foot inside of a mall.  Honestly, as much as I love the tradition and seeing Santa (absolutely serious about that - literally have an Elf moment every time), it has been so nice to shop from the comfort of home.  Also today are some of the best sales yet!!  I have listed them all below.  And check out my favorite picks from each here and here.

My whole look (above) is currently 60% off. My jacket ($107) and comes in 3 colors and red hunters never go sale (25% off)! Shop it in the scrolling gallery below.

Black Friday Sale Roundup!

Happy Black Friday!

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends.  Jonny and I had a relaxing day and limited ourselves to only two Thanksgivings this year which made it so nice be able to enjoy more time with everyone and less time traveling to and from each destination.  Not to mention, we probably saved a few calories, but who is counting on Thanksgiving #amiright?

There are so many great sales (obviously) right now, so I am just warning you, this is going to be a lengthy roundup, so pull up a chair and some cider.  Admittedly, I am likely doing the same thing.  I woke up with a pretty terrible cold (ugh!) and after feasting on all.the.things yesterday - sweats, a bun, online shopping, and Love Actually is all thats on the agenda for me today!

My entire outfit is currently over 50% off.  My jacket ($229), skirt ($114), and matching blouse are all 52% off through November 28th.  I wore an old blouse (similar here 30% off).  My favorite (and comfiest) heels are 20% off, but have very limited sizes left here - full priced, but more sizes available here ($119).

Gifts for the Guys

Happy Tuesday,

Happy Thanksgiving week!  During this week of thanks I try and remember to take extra time to say "hello" and smile and say "Happy Thanksgiving" to strangers (as creepy as that sounds) because maybe they will pass along the gesture.  I love the saying, "it is not happy people who are thankful, but thankful people who are happy."

Today's gift guide is all about the guys in our life!  I am so incredibly thankful for all of the guys in mine.  I tried to keep them all in mind when putting this together.  Jonny actually had a say (or two) while I was picking things out in today's guide.

  1. Kiehl's Travel Ready Starter Kit $43
  2. Bose Quiet Comfort Noise Cancelling Headphones $349.95 and Wool Smart Phone Gloves $49
  3. Monogrammed Wallet $80 Cozy Slippers $110
  4. Onsie Jammies $70 Robe $165
  5. Weekender $395 (Jonny uses this one! $129)
  6. Zip Front Jacket $139 Puffer Coat $900 (splurge!) love this one too and 40% off with code holiday
  7. Embossed tie case $149 Plaid Shirt $145

My dad and Jonny both travel quite a bit for work so last year they requested a nice weekender (like this one $395).  Previously, (for all of my dad's professional life) he used a backpack for short trips and he has loved his new bag.  Jonny has this one $129, and recommends it to everyone.  Our family does Christmas jammies every year and I am planning on getting these for Jonny, they crack me up and will actually be perfect and so cozy for after skiing (fingers crossed we get some snow!).  I think this tie case would make a wonderful gift and I love that it can be personalized.

5 years ago I got Jonny his first pair of Uggs - sometimes we don't think of Ugg as a product for guys, but I think guys like soft, cozy things just as much as we do! He wears his boots to work during the winter, under jeans and after skiing (similar pair here).  I also love these slippers that I am planning to get him - I think the rubber sole will be nice for taking Stanley out in the morning.  As for whats on his wishlist for this year... he mentioned that how this jacket is (I also like this one that is 40% off with code holiday).  He has this one that he throws on for work, but this one would be nice for really cold days.  We will see ;).

I will be adding new things to my Holiday Shop all this week and will be doing my best to keep you all updated with the best sale info! So make sure to check back often this week for Black Friday sale tips and round-ups and please let me know if there is anything you have your eye on that I should be looking out for too!

Gearing up for the Holidays!

Happy Friday!

I hope you had a wonderful week! It is finally feeling like November in Colorado.  We had our first snow yesterday (which is crazy late) so now I am officially ready for the holidays to begin.  Until yesterday there has been little need for coats or boots - or even sweaters which are usually standard attire during this time of year.

You guys all know that I love J Crew Factory, there is a location near our place in the mountains and Jonny and I stopped in last weekend and coincidentally were both decked out - head to toe in Factory apparel.  We always try and knock out some of our holiday shopping early there because they have fantastic sales and the good stuff always goes quickly!

I got my coat ($134) on sale last year (also comes in festive red and black) and it so comfy and warm and is wonderful quality! It is pretty much an exact duplicate of the non factory version (I do love this plaid version on sale: with code Festive!).  I wear this shirt ($16.99) year round, with white jeans and skirts in the summer, and with tights/skirts or jeans and boots in the winter.  I think a scarf is always a lovely gift.  I bought this scarf in different patterns (like this one) for myself and my sisters and we are planning on wearing them for our family Christmas card this year.

What are you up to this weekend?! Hope its a great one!

Adventures with Woodzee

Hi Friends,

I hope you are having a great week so far.  I am getting so excited for Thanksgiving... I can't believe how quickly the holidays have snuck up on us!!  Jonny and I have a full weekend of fun ahead, first celebrating my Nana and Papa's 65th wedding anniversary (watch out for some adorable snaps on my instagram story), and then the first of about a million Thanksgiving feasts.

I am pretty sure the pants that I am wearing here and love so much will no longer fit after next week.  Oh well... YOLO?  These distressed jeans are great, but I also love a bargain and found two pair for less than half the price (here $70 and here $59).

Jonny and I were so thankful to get a way last weekend before the craziness of the holidays begins.  We took Stanley on his first hike and Jonny golfed - which is semi terrifying because it means our ski resorts won't be opening any time soon :/.  I thought my new sunglasses from Woodzee were the perfect accessory to bring along on our weekend adventure.  I love that each pair is unique and made from buffalo horn.  Jonny got these! Both would make great Christmas gifts.  Also, think the tassels on my sweater are so fun, it is almost out of stock, so I found several more that I love (here, here and here!)

Have a great day! Cheers!

Gifts for your host and hostess with the mostess!

Morning Friends!

I hope you have had a chance to relax this weekend after a long and interesting week.

Jonny and I are both from Colorado so between the two of us, the holidays can be CRAZY busy.  We have big families which means multiple celebrations for both of us, but we would not have it any other way.  And with Thanksgiving right around the corner, I thought it could be helpful to share some of my favorite hostess gifts.

Hosting a holiday is no small feat.  We hosted Friendsgiving last year and it was a blast!  But, my goodness was it tough.  I remember thinking "how did my mom do this all the time?".  She was the hostess with the mostess and seemed to do it so effortlessly.  I now know the real time and energy that it takes to make a holiday go smoothly.

I love bringing a small hostess gift to each gathering we attend throughout the holidays.  Something small like these Sugarfina boxes are perfect, adorable (and delicious!), they come in several designs and various flavors.  I think this CHEESE BOARD is so special (yes, it is a cheese board!)... almost too pretty to put cheese on, almost ;).  I am planning on getting one for our home for a few of our upcoming gatherings.  Also I love the this cocktail guide cutting board for the great bartending host!

  1. Dessert Plate $18
  2. Gilded Candle $39
  3. Handblown Vase $59
  4. Gratitude Gift Tray $48
  5. Soap and Towel Gift Set $35
  6. Coasters $49
  7. Agate Cheese Board $78
  8. Fabulous Mug $15
  9. Glitter Frame $40
  10. Bartender Prep Board $69
  11. Wax Seal $45
  12. Cheers! Candy Bento Box $29

V - Is for Vote!

Happy Election Day Friends!

My dad first ran for office when I was in first grade - so Election Day has always been a big deal in our house. I will never, ever discuss politics here, except today and only to remind you how important it is to vote!   You can find voter information here!

Campaigning has always been a family activity for us.  Tossing out candy at parades, knocking on doors to hand out literature after soccer practice... and making phone calls on election day - it is so much fun and such a big part of who my sisters and I are.  Fall during an election year, the campaign office was our second home.  And as a daughter, it is my right to put a little plug in for my dad and ask you to vote for him if you live in the 7th congressional district of Colorado :)!

I wore this outfit to dinner over the weekend in the mountains.  It is pretty crazy that we can still go tightsless in the mountains in November, but I'll take it! I snagged this skirt $79 at J Crew Factory (love it there!) and am planning on wearing it tonight for election night festivities tonight!  I like that it is conservative, but still fun with the tie on the side.  It also comes in burgundy! This blanket scarf is my favorite for this time of the year and is perfect to carry through the holidays - and let me tell you, is so cozy (and under $45)!  I wear these booties All. The. Time. - so comfy and love that the neutral color goes with pretty much anything!  Also, I used to be a necklace and studs girl, but these earrings have changed that! They are a little heavy, but I have still been wearing them every chance I get!

I hope you have a wonderful Election Day! Follow Zoe and me along on some Election Day adventures today on my instagram stories.

Best Gifts for Your Engaged Besties this Season and Minted Giveaway

In honor of my dear friend, Molly's, engagement, I am so excited to share a gift guide to celebrate the newly engaged couples in our life!  Starting today, I will be sharing (at least) weekly, gift guides to help us all get ready for the holidays.  We all know that I am not the best at planning, however, I do like to shop... so I am trying to knock out some of my shopping early this year and spread it out over the next 7 weeks so I am not scrambling on Christmas Eve (it has happened... it might still, but #goals).

Speaking of planning... This may not be a big deal for some, but huge achievement over here - I have already ordered our Holiday Cards! I have teamed up with Minted to give away $125 in credit towards holiday cards to two Denver Darling readers so you can be a head of the game too (wooo hooo!). You can sign up HERE! These Boots are Made for Walking through Fall

Hi Friends, Happy Thursday!

Hope you are enjoying this beautiful week!  As I mentioned yesterday, we are having a serious Indian Summer over here and I am not complaining one bit.

I have heard mumblings from people that they can't wait for the cold and sleet and the snow and hot cocoa.  All I can think is "hold your horses people!" there will be plenty I promise.  Enjoy the sunshine!  That being said, yesterday I spent the day working outside, the sunshine on my face, Stanley at my feet and drinking endless amounts of lemonade from one of my favorite pup friendly neighborhood spots (Postino).  And I will hopefully be doing the same thing today and tomorrow.

DSC08165_2016.jpg

Last weekend lovely Lacey from My Boring Closet and I got together to share our favorite boots of the season!  We met up in the sweet Wash Park neighborhood of Gaylord and had a blast sampling goodies from Devils Food Bakery and peeking in the adorable boutiques!

I have been getting a lot of questions from you about picking the right boot.  I know the process can seem kind of scary because boots used to be such an investment.  But there are so many great options right now at wonderful price points!

I mentioned here - that I have had these for two seasons now! They are my favorite boot.  And yes, I do wear them with black!  I have also had my eye on these Tory Burch boots for a while and they are currently a part of the ShopBop Surprise Sale (today is the last day!).  I also just purchased my first pair of over the knee boots (big deal you guys - I have short legs!!).  I am really excited about these because they aren't too high/tight, and have a nice heel height - pretty much the Goldilocks of boots! Oh and 40% right now - bonus!

I love Lacey's whole look.  So perfect for fall and any upcoming Thanksgiving festivities! Her boots are a steal ($77!) and come in three other colors! I am thinking about the burgundy (you know how I feel about burgundy!).  I also love these - both have the tie at the top which makes the over the knee not as scary as they once were to me.  I will share my new pair with you soon!

I can't wait to see your favorite boots.  Have you tried over the knee boots? Maybe I have just been a chicken.  Have a great day!

Burgundy Fall

Morning Friends!

Hope you had a wonderful Halloween weekend!!  I can't believe that here we are - the beginning of November and it still feels like late summer.  One thing I love about Colorado is that we have four true seasons.  Sometimes in the dead of winter I wish Jonny and I lived in California or Arizona where the weather is always mild, but then I remember we would never get days like these!

Last week, I took Stanley on a stroll and the leaves seemed to be at their peak.   Just a few days later he has almost doubled in size and  these beautiful leaves are almost gone.  Looking through these photos I got a little sad remembering a gorgeous fall day last year with Mr. Brown, so I am reminded to savor every minute of our changing Colorado seasons.

Since it has been unseasonably warm layering has not really been necessary just yet.  I have been loving these lightweight turlenecks from Madewell.  I liked this one so much I also bought it in black and blue and am planning on getting blush and red for the Holidays since they are currently on sale ($29.95).  Burgundy has been my very favorite color to wear this fall and I am sure will continue through the holidays and the new year - I was so excited when I spotted these Hunters in my new favorite color.  If it were chilly enough for a jacket, I would have worn this faux leather jacket ($32)!

Have a great day!

Pumpkin Pickin

Happy Wednesday Friends,

I hope you are having a wonderful week...  if you are here in CO, seriously, can you believe this weather?  And if you are not, hope it is just as beautiful where you are!!

Jonny and I spent the better part of this past weekend enjoying the sunshine and our new puppy, Stanley.  He is an absolute riot and super smart... I sound like such a crazy dog lady, but I am convinced he is a puppy angel sent by Charlie Brown (why not, right?).

It is rare that we have a free day that neither Jonny or I have work, a birthday, wedding, or other beautiful commitment so we decided to take a little daycation to Boulder and stop at the Cottonwood Farms Pumpkin Patch along the way.  We searched all over for a place that would also allow Stanley and it seems this is the only pumpkin patch that is also dog friendly.  Well, we were so glad we stopped here because it was incredibly charming.  Entry is free, wagons provided for your pumpkin picking pleasure, and possibly the highlight for me.... they have a mini horse!! One day I am going to get one and my poor husband is just going to come home to a small zoo in our townhouse.

Jonny and I were so excited enjoy the beautiful fall day at the pumpkin patch.  And, my flannel that I just snagged from Madewell is super comfy! Definitely cozy, so will be perfect for chillier temperatures later this fall and winter.  I love how versatile this skirt is too - I have also worn it with a white tee and booties and will be great with black tights and boots in cooler temps too!  My boots and purse are both tried and true favorites.  Jonny actually got me both for Christmas two years ago and they have stayed in such wonderful condition!  Shop all outfit details below.

Would love to hear your favorite pumpkin picking spots!  Hope you have a wonderful rest of your week!
