My grandma Howell was well known around our neighborhood as “Cool Grannie” and even better-known for her amazing cooking and baking. She loved to cook, and spending time in the kitchen will always remind me of her. On June 16th grandma would have turned 87. In honor of her birthday this year, I will be sharing one of her famous recipes with all you each week during the month of June.
This is typically called a “dump cake” because you literally "dump" all of the ingredients in - hardly any mixing or prep required. Usually this dessert is served in a 9x13 pan, however I thought we should pretty up the name and look a bit in order to match its flaky, cobbler-like texture and summery flavors!
Today’s yummy dessert is so simple and always a crowd pleaser. Whenever we have a bbq or are asked to bring a dessert for a big group, this is my go-to.... (very few ingredients and almost impossible to over/underbake). As I mentioned last week, counting calories was never a top priority for my grandma, but I promise you wont mind (what do they say? “everything in moderation"? ;)”)
