Last weekend I had the pleasure of hosting my sweet as can be, sister-in-law's baby shower. This will be the first baby in the family and as you can imagine everyone is over the moon excited to meet the little guy (Bambino is what he is being called). I got the inspiration for Erin's shower after she sent me her ideas for Bambino's nursery. She, like me, loves preppy things. Mostly monogrammed, always striped, and (usually) pink. I knew a nautical themed shower would be perfect!
Erin was sure to emphasize that she wanted everything to be simple, stress free and as easy as possible. After hosting several fun gatherings lately, I realized fun paper products would be the way to go. I loved these plates because they were a little different than the rest of the anchor and stripes print/pattern scheme, but still fit the theme perfectly. These napkins looked great, and come in large quantities and both cocktail and dinner sizes. I also loved the fun, balloon party pack ($7.75) that includes a giant sailboat - it was adorable "sailing" outside of the house. My favorite decorations had to be the three banners that Hannah from Fetti and Fizz created - I suggested a few ideas and let her run with it (she also did banners for the last shower I hosted and loved them too)! All three banners were so sweet and added just the right nautical and glittery touch.
For my one little DIY project (don't laugh) I couldn't find a cake pop stand that I liked so purchased a styrofoam ring and tied ribbon on the sides. I thought it looked a bit like a life raft (or a solar system someone else pointed out)... either way the cake pops and cookies from Gateaux were delicious as usual!
Jonny's mom and I wanted to find an activity that everyone would enjoy and could participate in (even those of us who are a little challenged in the artistic arena). We decided on nautical themed bib decorating! It was simple, fun, and products were easy to find.
What you need:
- Plain bib set (like these)
- Non toxic fabric paint (like these)
- Any stencils you would like!
- Paint sponge/paint brush (sponges work best)
Finally, I have been making this punch quite a bit, its yummy, easy and great for large groups (also made for Neridas shower)!
Fun Punch
- 2 59oz blueberry lemonade (I like Simply Lemonade)
- 1 59oz plain lemonade
- 1 59oz raspberry lemonade (or other pink lemonade)
- 1 bag of mixed frozen berries
- 1 lemon sliced
- 2/3 bottles of Prosecco (or 2/3 bottles of Perrier)
- Ice
Hope you have a wonderful week!!
